This past Saturday at the Gulfport High School auditorium, the Tyrone Lewis Ministry presented the “Sunday Best” Gospel Concert. Prophet Lewis said they wanted to target youth and young adults from 17 to 25. “I thought it would be a good idea to inspire the young generation to achieve their goals”.

This concert, the first Prophet Lewis has promoted, was a goal achieved indeed. His ministry booked and successfully presented Sunday Best standout contestants Alexis Spight and Ashford Sanders, Lawrence & Friends, Sunday Best winner of Season Five Joshua Rogers, special guest Jekayln Carr.

Many people involved in the production of the concert were still reflecting on the event and all the blessings that came with it. Marcus George, bass player for the 2015 Covey Award-winning band DEI ONE, said, “I felt real good about the concert; it brought a lot of people together”. He went on to explain that he liked how many people from different denominations attended this concert just to praise God and hear some good music.

Gulfport’s very own MinaStar, a Christian / Gospel rapper, also expressed his thoughts on the concert by saying, “It was definitely something beneficial. I think it was a good look that I had the opportunity to share the stage with prominent artist like Jekayln Carr and many of the Sunday Best (contestants). MinaStar performs with Chita Entertainment under the management of Robert Hamilton. MinaStar says he would love the opportunity to collaborate with Jekayln Carr one day.

The concert also included a few other local artists such as Tawinika McCoy of Gautier, Mississippi who will be starring in the Jackiee Francis-Howard gospel stage play “Where are All the Real Men”, The United Singers of Gulfport, and “A Company of Angels” praise dance team. Prophet Lewis has begun setting-up his ministry’s next event, the 13th Annual “Yes Lord” Conference on March 25, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. The conference will convene at the Anointed Temple AOH Church of God 3575 34th Avenue in Gulfport, Mississippi.
